Writing

Writing: Intent Statement

Writing is a crucial part of our curriculum at Oakway Academy. All children from Reception to Year 6 are provided with many opportunities to develop and apply their writing skills across the curriculum. By the end of our children’s Oakway learning journey, we intend our children to have developed a love of writing and to be able to express their thoughts and ideas clearly and creatively through the written word. We also intend to create writers who can re-read, edit and improve their own writing, enabling children to be able to confidently use the essential skills of grammar, punctuation and spelling. At Oakway Academy, we set high expectations for all our children to achieve and to teach them to take PRIDE in their work. We teach our children from the beginning to correctly form their letters and develop have a fluent handwriting style alongside allowing their imaginations to flourish.
